Preparing Legal Trainees for Work
Building Practical Skills for Legal Trainees Throughout the Post-offer Period
Preparing and Engaging your New Hires
Working with 20+ legal firms, we have deep understanding of Early Careers recruitment in the legal sector and some of the challenges faced, including the extended ‘keep warm’ period between offer of a training contract and joining a firm.
For Early Career hires preparing to join a firm, soft skills development is as critical as technical or academic knowledge. Soft skills are the bridge that ensures their effective application in real-world scenarios.
These skills empower graduates to collaborate effectively, adapt to diverse teams, and build relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. Employers increasingly value candidates who go above and beyond to contribute to a positive work culture, navigate challenges with resilience, and lead with empathy.
Investing in soft skills development ahead of employment is a proactive step that can set your new trainees apart, equipping them with the confidence and versatility to thrive in any professional setting. Firms that prioritise hiring graduates with a strong foundation in soft skills are also more likely to see long-term benefits, including improved collaboration, innovation, resilience, and leadership potential.
At Amberjack, we can help prepare individuals for the transition to work so that they feel confident and able to perform at their best once they join. The post offer and pre joining window is the perfect time to start the development journey and offers multiple benefits for both employers and candidates:
Build a positive Employer Brand
Reduce reneges
Increase engagement and collaboration
