It’s Apprenticeship Week! A week of celebration and recognition for apprentices and the opportunities that Apprenticeship schemes can offer. For 2025, Apprenticeship Week takes place from 10th-16th of February.
This year, we’ve decided to focus on three of Amberjack’s very own apprentices. We dive into their experiences, skills, and how employers can support them to develop their potential.
For our first Apprentice Spotlight for 2025, we spoke to Amanda.

“My name is Amanda and I’m an 18-year-old Recruitment Co-ordinator Apprentice at Amberjack.
I have been working at Amberjack for about 4 months, and it has been a wonderful experience. I’ve gained so much knowledge and insight into how to complete day-to-day tasks in the business world and have also been given the opportunity to align my personal aspirations to my future goals.”
Amanda explains her decision-making process, and how she decided on an Apprenticeship over going to university…
“I was working as a part time waitress whist I was in sixth form. I was, at this time, unsure whether I would go to university or not. I was confused and undecided as to where or how I was going to start off my career.
Nevertheless, I decided to apply for a role at Amberjack even though everyone around me was going to university and I didn’t know anyone personally that was doing an apprenticeship. To say the least, starting the trajectory of my career, this way was the best decision I could’ve made.”
We asked Amanda what it was like entering the workforce for the first time as an apprentice. Thinking back to the beginning, she notes that there was a mix of emotions…
“Entering the workforce as a young apprentice gave me a mix of excitement and apprehension. On one hand, there’s this thrilling sense of independence that comes with earning my own money and being part of a professional environment building my skills and knowledge – something I feel I wouldn’t have been able to do so early in my career path had I gone to university.
I’ve been able to learn from others around me who have been in the same position as me. I can see myself building on my confidence to try new things, getting involved with different tasks and contributing more to projects, something I was unable to do last year.
I can safely say, working at Amberjack is providing me a solid foundation for my future career, giving me a head start compared to peers who are in university now.”
Finally, we asked Amanda about her experiences, and what can employers do to help apprentices develop and reach their potential…
“Every day I have clear conversations with my manager and team, and I am confidently meeting the standards required of me in my role. My future is to get involved in more client facing positions and learn more about project management.
The experience I’ve been given will shape not just my own journey but also influence how other young apprentices are viewed and treated in their roles.”
